Dr. Peter Hopkins and Dr. Karl Kitching (Newcastle University and University College Cork)

O'Rahilly Building ORB123, University College Cork 10:00 :: 23rd May 2011

In this morning seminar, Dr. Peter Hopkins will map out the role of intergenerational relations in the lives of young people of faith. Using data from three qualitative research projects, he will demonstrate the complexity of young people's religious identities and the diverse factors influencing these. After open discussion and tea/coffee, Dr. Karl Kitching, School of Education, will provide preliminary analysis of some pilot research on 'Making (First Holy) Communion'. This project intends to look at how children and families involved in Holy Communion/Catholic Schools negotiate and forge links between contemporary school, home, religious practices and market.

All Welcome
