Forced Labour and the Consequences of Trafficking Discourse

Deirdre Coghlan is an independent researcher. She has a BA in Sociology and Psychology and an MPhil in Ethnic and Racial Studies.
She has conducted research for the Migrant Rights Centre Ireland (MRCI) on Trafficking for Forced Labour in Ireland, the Integration of
Migrant Workers into Dublin and Irregular Migration in Ireland. She has also worked as a research assistant with Dr. Gillian Wylie of the
Irish School of Ecumenics on an EU funded project on trafficking for forced labour. She is currently conducting research with MRCI to identify and map
good practice models in responding to trafficking for forced labour in Ireland and the UK. The research also aims to highlight key areas of concern
and critique the institutional response to the problem.
