Post-doctoral Researcher Integration in Workplaces

Post Summary

The post-doctoral researcher will work alongside Dr Camilla Devitt in the Department of Sociology at Trinity College Dublin on the European Commission funded project ‘Assessing and enhancing migrant workers' integration in workplaces (WORK-INT)' for a period of one year starting in March 2014. The post-doctoral researcher will be responsible for producing: 1) a statistical background note on non-EU immigrant workers in Ireland and in particular in Dublin; 2) a research report on non-EU immigrant workers' integration in workplaces based on qualitative interviews undertaken by the researcher in workplaces in Dublin. The postdoctoral researcher will also assist in the organization of a forum with local and national stakeholders.

Background to the Post

The project aims to assess migrant workers' integration in workplaces by conducting a largely qualitative study based on interviews with non-European migrant workers and their employers, with a particular focus on the health sector. This European project involves research teams in five European cities, including Dublin. The researcher will be based in the Department of Sociology at Trinity College, which has a strong research focus on migration and work, and will be affiliated with the Migration and Employment Research Centre (MERC).
